Well.. This thread is for everyone that has something to say about the fact that many bands tends to go for a new style when they get little famous.. Then they try to reach out to a new audience and everything sounds SHIT.. Some examples.
Amorphis, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquillity, Skymning, Mörk Gryning, Siebenbürgen and LOTS of others.. anyone care to join in on this thread ?? I'm sure you have some band to bitch about ;)

Yeah it really sucks, I didn't know that woud happen to CoB. It's almost safe to say that every band starts to do this when they get more and more famous.

Exactly but why is that ?? I mean they already have the fame !!

Maybe they're just evolving as musicians, trying out new stuff.

Well of course they are, and they often reach the goal to reach a new audience but what of the old HARDCORE fans then ??? That listen to a band for that something special they have in their music !!! Well it's up to the band to decide what to play.. But I still think it sucks.

Old thread, but I hope, that doesn't matter:
If they got a little fame, they perhaps think, that they're well-known, and if they try it with a new style, they think, that they might reach even more people...

But they don't think about the fact, that they'll make themselves unpopular - at least for the old fans...

I most surely agree with you on that one !!!
It's quite terrible if you ask me..
But It's good in a other way to.. Because it often brings NON-metal people in to the metalscene !

But that's dangerous then again, because the Metal-scene might have a problem one day of getting commercialized too much...
I've myself not been listening to Metal for long, perhaps since 1 1/2 years or so, and I wouldn't describe myself as being a member of the scene - and I don't listen too much to Death-/Black-Metal an d similar things - but I was brought to Metal by Nightwish, but not due to commercial success, but due to a friend, at whom I listened to them... So I don't know, if commercial success really's got something to do with somebody new coming into a scene, and I'd describe as a possibility of "danger"

I understand what you mean.. But I think that the metalscene today is to commercialized ... Because.. There's only a few band that hits the spotlights while there is often hundreds of better band out there..

Yeah, that's the problem, all scenes today either are commercialized or haven't got a lot of fans - the only not-commercialized "scene" I can think of is the Jazz, and they don't have too many followers nowadays.

I think, even things are getting commercialized, [every]one should try to resist that process.
